Environment plays a significant role in shaping a person, but ultimately the choice is up to them on how they conduct themselves moving forward. Seattle-based artist Macntaj grew up in a home that would have broken many others, but instead of lashing out chose to take his pain to the stage where he has made a name for himself as an artist whose works reflect society. With works that resonate with his listeners, Macntaj quickly earned a strong following. His latest track “Stepped On” is set to be released on Thizzler, which will help further elevate his status in the music industry.

Thizzler is a media company based in Oakland that is focused on hip-hop music, news in the industry, and the celebration of culture. The brand serves as a platform that allows underground artists to get the exposure they deserve. Thizzler also goes behind the scenes, sharing the artist’s songwriting and production process. The brand helps develop, market, and distribute rising artists to a wider audience. Recently, they have picked up Macntaj’s most recent single, “Stepped On.” The song was released in early August and is a collaboration between Macntaj and Stackz Tha Rapper.

Kwabena Boateng, best known as Macntaj, endured an early life of violence and trauma living with a single mother and an older brother with a frustrating boxing career. His brother would often take his frustrations on him, turning Macntaj into his personal punching bag. In his teen years, Macntaj would delve into gang culture. However, he realized that there was more to life and decided to take his studies seriously.

Macntaj would later drop out of high school upon receiving his GED and found work as a cashier at Walmart. The tides would change and Macntaj found himself recruited by a banker who recruited him into finance. Although he was exceptionally gifted, Macntaj ultimately found his calling in music.

By 2016, the young artist would start gaining recognition in the Seattle area, featuring in multiple tracks. A year later, he would collaborate with producer Levitate on an EP titled Omni, featuring tracks from Raz Simone and Gunplay. From there, Macntaj would take his career to great heights, touring through India and releasing multiple singles. In 2019, the artist would release his first full-length LP Trappy Gilmore 2 after the debut of the album’s single “Ochit Wally” featuring The Source. Although the pandemic has been a hindrance to his opportunities to tour, the artist had been busy working on his album 2020 Succs after releasing a single titled “I Hope You Cough,” which was accompanied by a music video.

Macntaj would release his debut album Big Bloc Meign! in the early weeks of August. The album is narrated by rap legend X-Raided who shares that Big Bloc Meign is a testament to the trials and tribulations that Macntaj endured to get where he is today. With how far he’s come, Macntaj hopes to leave a lasting impact on his listeners and inspire the next generation.
