When it comes to first impressions, some people have a visibly judgemental look in their eyes. Leslie Grodin noticed this over the years she would encounter or introduce people to one another. She always felt that strangers didn’t deserve that kind of judgment from others and sought a way to know more about them so she could relate to them. Leslie came upon the idea of conducting interviews with people to be able to relate to them better. She made this a reality when she created a YouTube channel called I Want To Know Your Story.

I Want To Know Your Story is a series of interviews conducted by Leslie Grodin that features people from all kinds of backgrounds. The project started in August 2019 with Leslie posting the first video on November 6, 2019. She created the channel with a vision of positivity and non-judgment. Her goal is to build a more empathic and understanding world. The guests vary and all kinds of people from all walks of life.

Leslie is aware that the world will never be free of judgment and instead seeks to lessen it. She believes that by hearing the stories of people, the world would be able to judge less and ask more. People hearing someone else’s story can make them feel a little less afraid and alone when they find it’s similar to theirs.

Over a year into creating I Want To Know Your Story, Leslie has had over sixty-three interviews posted to her channel. The viewers complimented the series as they appreciated watching the stories and shared the sentiment that her platform was a great idea. The people interviewed commented about how the interview style was done differently, adding that they enjoy getting personal and sharing their stories.

The beauty of I Want To Know Your Story is that it gives people the opportunity to hear directly from the person sharing, leaving little to no room for them to judge. As the interviewed shares their story, viewers get to watch them. While reading a book or the accompanying pictures still deliver the same story, recorded interviews provide a deeper connection and give viewers the feeling of being part of the conversation. The platform gives people a voice and shares different stories from people coming from all walks of life.

Now running for more than a year, Leslie Grodin continues to share about the lives of others in her endless crusade to create a more understanding world. She hopes to see her channel grow and have tens of thousands of YouTube subscribers and Instagram followers. Moreover, Leslie’s goal is to travel as soon as the pandemic is taken care of so she can continue her interviews with people in person. While conducting interviews on Zoom or other platforms is a safe alternative for now, she believes that having them in person makes for a better connection.
