How Niki Srinivasa Is Using Her Platform to Brinneg Inclusion Into the Fashion Industry
Media plays such an important role in how we perceive things. It can act as a source of information, providing people with news of the things happening around the world. Media also acts as a trendsetter, inspiring people to take after the looks or accessories of celebrities and influencers.
However, media does not always play a positive role, especially towards the younger generation who are easily influenced. Often it sets standards for how things should be or how people look. The latter often being a cause for bullying. This is something that many people have experienced, even designer Niki Srinivasa.
Niki endured an early life of bullying, and she often struggled with self-worth. It was difficult for her to find someone to look up to because there was a lack of representation in media. She internalized a poor sense of self-worth and often asked herself what the problem was.
The answer came to her one day: it wasn’t her. It was the messages being portrayed.
This realization lit a fire in her, inspiring her to become someone who could tilt the status quo. Niki took it upon herself to become a champion for acceptance, female empowerment, and body positivity. And she knew just where to project her vision. Niki began to pursue a career in fashion.
In fashion, Niki was able to build a name for herself. She is recognized for her ability to connect with others while taking a diligent approach to her pursuits and projects. By connecting with others and empowering them, she can find a passion for her vision.
Her journey to success began when she collaborated with Modcloth on a round-table discussion on female empowerment. She was invited to join in on filming the promo for The Women’s Choice Awards. What followed was a whirlwind of invitations for Niki to showcase her collection in New York and Paris, among many others. She began to learn from others in the industry, even collaborating with Tommy Hilfiger.
Niki has also designed a gown for the popular fashion app “Covet” and participated in the world’s first fully AI rendered Virtual Fashion Show, collaborating with a top tech company in fashion called BigThinx.
Despite making it into the major league of fashion, Niki still holds her mission close to her heart, remaining humble amidst the success. She continues to build toward her brand with hopes to contribute to blazing a trail. Niki aims to build a global enterprise and revolutionize how business is done in the fashion and entertainment industry.
Niki has her mind set on writing a book soon, along with speaking engagements and empowering others through creative projects. She has working plans to launch a continuing collaboration with artists, and branching into the entertainment industry.
However, her dreams have hit a bump on the road as a global pandemic arose. She hopes to develop ideas in the immediate future so she can help the frontliners of the pandemic and those in need.
